August 30th is National Holistic Pet Day and Patrick Mahaney DVM is doing a live Facebook video stream and chat at 12pm and 3pm EST on the Flexcin Facebook Page. You may have met Dr. Mahaney at a BlogPaws conference. He was a speaker at the last one in June in Salt Lake City. He’ll be answering questions about holistic pet care during the Facebook chats today. Try to make it to one of them and tell him I sent you! =^..^=
Most of you are probably familiar with holistic medicine – the concept of treating the whole body and mind, rather than only looking at/treating a specific part of the body. Everything is connected, and if any part of your system is out of balance, other things are likely to be affected. Natural diets, homeopathy, herbal remedies, vitamins and other supplements, acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga and meditation are all considered holistic health practices, and are all pretty standard around here in Hollywood. Mom has a holistic doctor and does all that stuff.

What’s not so common are holistic treatments for pets, though they’re gaining popularity. Things like acupuncture, herbal remedies, natural and sometimes raw diets, nutritional supplements, and using non-toxic pet products (and non-toxic cleaning products around your pets) are becoming more mainstream in the pet and vet community.
Anyway, I’m thankful people are looking at more and better ways of treating and preventing health problems in animals – and people, too.
What are you thankful for this week?
Remember, if you don’t get your post up today, the blog hop will be open all week, so come back when you can. And check out all the other blog hop links to see what they’re grateful for this week, and maybe make some new friends.
Love,
Cokie

Thanks for the tip of the live stream!
